One thing this year in Ecuador has definitely taught me is to always be flexible. We've ended almost every sentence out of our mouths this year with, "....if we do end up staying, that is." It's been kind of annoying, but more recently I am accepting it more gracefully.
But for now, it really does look like we're staying. After lots of ups and downs and frustrations, we came to a point in January where we decided to give Ecuador another six months. Five months later, things still hadn't improved and we decided to leave. At (literally) the last minute, Shawn's bosses decided to agree with the set of circumstances we were wanting. We are now setting ourselves toward making plans for this next season of our lives.
I hope that now that things feel a little bit more stable, I'll be blogging more about some of our adventures. I hope we'll get to travel some around Ecuador and that now that I've got a handle on Spanish I can talk more about the cultural insights.
